The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday attacked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Patna, saying his language was like that of hooligans.
A language that was once associated with thugs and hooligans is now being used by the Congress president himself, the BJP said in an X post.
BJP Also Targets Rahul Gandhi
The ruling party said their "Yuvraj" (Rahul Gandhi), in fits of frustration, sometimes misbehaves with female police officers on the street, and other times gets into scuffles with his own party leaders. Their entire style of functioning has turned into that of a mafia, it stated, adding that this isn't a political party anymore - it seems more like a mafia gang.
"By the way, to fulfil the dream in Kharge ji's statement, the then-Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) tried every trick in the book for ten years, but Congress was thrown out of power," the saffron party said.
"Today, her son is wandering from pillar to post - sometimes to Vietnam, sometimes to Colombia - to realise that very same dream. The people of the country will never let this dream of yours come true," it asserted.
Congress's Ideological Bankruptcy: Nitin Nabin Slams Kharge
The BJP chief, Nitin Nabin, also slammed Kharge, saying that his unparliamentary language reflects the Congress party's ideological bankruptcy.
"The kind of indecent and unparliamentary language used today in Patna by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge towards the country's honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji reflects the Congress party's ideological bankruptcy," Nabin said in an X post.
He further said there is a certain dignity to political opposition as well, but dragging the departed family members into speeches from public platforms has now become the real 'culture' of Rahul Gandhi and the entire opposition.
"This is not Kharge ji's personal statement, but a revelation of the entire Congress party's lack of decorum in its thinking. When the opposition has no solid issues left to debate on the country's development, policies, and public welfare schemes, they resort to this kind of desperation and personal attacks. The people of the country are watching this indecent politics very closely and will give it a befitting reply in due time," he added.
Kharge Loses Cool At Patna Event
Earlier in the day, Kharge, who was speaking at a function to mark the 139th birth anniversary of Bihar's first chief minister, Krishna Singh, popularly known as 'Sri Babu', lost his cool after a person interrupted his speech. A person present at the event said that PM Modi would not go anywhere; Kharge responded, saying, "Modi ka baap bhi jayega." Party workers then overcame the person and took him away from the hall.
