Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Monday hit out at Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar amid the ongoing demand for his resignation. He said participating in upcoming polls would be "pointless" as long as CEC Gyanesh Kumar stays in office.
Taking a sharp swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party's winning streak, Dipke alleged that the ruling party is securing victories in states where it failed to win even at the peak of the "Modi wave", signaling that the outcomes are due to alleged voter manipulation under the CEC.
He said, “I feel that until Gyanesh Kumar resigns and ensures free and fair elections, there is no point in participating in such polls, because the winner is already predetermined.”
"The BJP is winning in states where it couldn't even secure a victory during the peak of the 'Modi wave'—and this is happening because of Gyanesh Kumar. Once Gyanesh Kumar leaves and the SIR freezes, only then will we know how many seats the BJP actually wins," the CJP founder added.
He urged the CEC to step down, claiming that election outcomes in the country have become "predetermined", rendering participation meaningless.
These remarks came during his visit to Pune to express solidarity with students protesting against the Maharashtra government over alleged Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) exam irregularities and recruitment backlogs.
Meanwhile, after a massive demonstration at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Friday, the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against the organisers and 400 to 500 unidentified persons allegedly involved in the protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party.
The FIR was filed a day after CJP founder and Gen Z outfit leader Abhijeet Dipke organized the protest at Shivaji Park, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Siddhi Deolekar, a resident and advocate, said on Friday that she had lodged a complaint at the Shivaji Park Police Station against CJP activists Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Saurav Das, and Ratna Singh for allegedly proceeding with the protest despite the denial of permission.
Dipke’s remarks come amid the ongoing controversy following a report in The Indian Express stating that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi formally raised objections on at least 14 occasions over 10 months regarding decisions on electoral rolls, voter registration, and the Commission’s technology systems.
