SIR Protest:Amid the ongoing row over alleged poll rigging, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) senior leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on Tuesday got detained after they visited Jantar Mantar, informed Delhi Police. The two leaders were detained after they visited the site with the fellow protesters days after their large-scale demonstration in Delhi. In a post on X, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke stated that the leaders "sneaked into" Jantar Mantar with the national flag.
Abhijeet Dipke Shares Video
Dipke shared a video of the incident, in which the CJP leaders are seen jumping a gate to arrive at the protest site. While there is a heavy deployment at the entry gate, the protesters sneaked to the site by jumping over a nearby gate near the JDU office. Along with Dipke, the CJP also shared the video with a message- the pressure group will not back off.
"Cockroaches with the Tiranga sneaked into Jantar Mantar early this morning before they were picked up by Delhi Police," Dipke wrote in his post. While tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he asserted that the administration will not be able to contain the demonstrations by the CJP.
Earlier on Monday, Delhi Police officially denotified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site following recommendations from a committee set up by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Earlier on Saturday, all the three top leaders of the pressure group were detained from their flight upon landing at the IGI airport. They were scheduled to participate in a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, seeking removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and a detailed probe into the SIR.
While they were later released by the Delhi Police, they reportedly agreed to not stage a protest in the capital city for a year. However, the leaders later denied such reports, adding that they will continue the demonstrations throughout the nation until the resignation of Kumar.
