During dinner, three police officers visited a paying guest (PG) accommodation in North Delhi's Shakti Nagar to discourage students from attending Saturday's protest, warning that participation could lead to detention and harm their career prospects. A Delhi University student noted that the officers advised them to focus on their studies, cautioning that the protest was illegal and that a detention record could jeopardise future job opportunities.
Initially, the students thought that it was Delhi’s police routine visits following the Satya Niketan collapse. The student alleged that police personnel came to their PG on Wednesday, unexpectedly, between regular monthly sessions. “They have recently visited, so we assumed it must be about building safety and another building collapse,” TOI quoted a student as saying.
This comes amid reports that the Delhi cops have urged for assistance from university and college authorities and PG owners to discourage the CJP demonstration demanding the resignation of Chief-Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
'Outreach programme for advising students'
Another student alleged that the police personnel stopped him from filming the incident even as he recorded the address. Police personnel called the incident an outreach programme, advising students to focus on their careers and not participate in the protest to disrupt law and order.

Students claimed that similar addresses had taken place in college societies and private coaching centres as well. Students claimed that the cops asked them who are willing to join the protest and whether they are intended to join it. A student labelled the move “unprecedented”. The cops had also cautioned them that joining the protest could violate the “code of conduct.”
Students are now questioning why an exercise claiming to be a measure to maintain law and order is reduced to an attempt to deter participation in the protest.
Section 163 Imposed
Authorities have imposed Section 163 (prohibitory orders) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which empowers them to issue orders to prevent potential disturbances, in New Delhi district.
