Top Leadership Detained
The Delhi police detained Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka from flight upon landing at the IGI airport. While confirming the detention, the CJP, in a post on X, criticized the action by alleging that the current situation in the country is worse than that of emergency period. Earlier, Dipke had questioned the restrictions announced by the authorities a day before the demonstration.
What Is Next For CJP?
While some of the supporters managed to reach the protest site despite heavy security arrangements, the authorities detained over 500 such protesters. The Delhi police have detained all the senior leaders and the known supporters such as Dhruv Rathee. Their detention might lead to a period of uncertainty among the supporters, but the CJP founder had long anticipated this situation.
Earlier while talking to the reporters, Dipke stated that the protest will continue even after his detention. The CJP founder stated that the demonstrations will be held across the nation until the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar. "We will continue to fight for democracy and will ensure (Cheif Election Commissioner) Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation," Dipke told news agency ANI hours before the detention.
