CJP Jantar Mantar Protest: The Cockroach Janata Party has called a large-scale protest today at Delhi's Jantar Mantar protest site today seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration has been called over the allegations of poll rigging and irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters list. However, the Delhi police has denied permission for any such protest citing violation of rules in the previous CJP protest and non-following of procedures while taking the permission.
The authority on Friday called any such protest illegal and urged the residents to not participate in the demonstration to ensure safety. The centre, anticipating a huge crowd, has deployed additional security personnel at the sensitive areas of Delhi, placed barricades near Jantar Mantar, and has imposed restriction on the metro and train services to maintain the law and order.
Despite the restrictions, CJP has clarified that the protest will be held as per the schedule, adding that its members will not leave the city until the resignation of CEC Kumar. In a post on X, pressure group founder Abhijeet Dipke urged the supporters to gather at the protest site as per the schedule.
