The three key leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party were taken to three different locations after Delhi police detained them in the flight at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was taken to Gurugram by the cops. While CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were taken to Dwarka and an undisclosed location in Delhi, respectively. As of now, around 1,500 people have been detained by the Delhi police on Saturday.
During the detention, Dipke said, "He is not afraid.” "You could have waited till we came out. Come arrest us, we are not afraid," Dipke was seen telling the women cops who boarded the plane. The post also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
'This is dictatorship': Dipke
The CJP founder called the detention “dictatorship”. He said that “Even Indira Gandhi did not do this.” Addressing the passengers, Dipke said, “You can see where the nation is leading to.” Dipke had earlier in the morning left Mumbai for Delhi to lead a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar.
Earlier, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee and CJP legal cell head Ratna Singh were also detained at their homes to stop them from joining the police. Around 400 suspected protesters were detained from different parts of Delhi overnight by the cops.
TMC Leaders Including Mamata Banerjee Detained
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, along with party leaders Derek O'Brien, Dola Sen and others, was detained from South Avenue on Saturday amid protests called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).
Aam Aami Party convener Arvind Kejriwal was also detained. Earlier, he claimed that he will be joining the CJP protest on Friday, along with his family. “I appeal to everyone, to the people of the entire country, to gather at Jantar Mantar in maximum numbers. This is not about one person or party; it is about the nation," he said.
“Whoever does not vote for BJP has their vote deleted, fake votes are added, and all this was happening openly under Gyanesh Kumar. The entire country is demanding his resignation," he said.
AISA President Neha, CPI President, Activist Yadav Detained
All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora, Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist-Liberation president Dipankar Bhattacharya, lawyer Prashant Bhushan and activist Yogendra Yadav, were also detained near INA Market while on their way to join the protest.
Meanwhile, several markets across the national capital, including Khan Market and Connaught Place, remained shut amid the protests.
