Congress Meet: The leaders of Congress saw assertive and aggressive sides of senior leaders, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, veteran Sonia Gandhi and LoP in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, at the CWC meeting on Tuesday. While the meeting was called to discuss the ECI-SIR row, the senior leaders reportedly raised concern on several other key issues. The high command emphasized that the issues raised by the top leadership should be amplified by the party workers to ensure a larger impact.
Sonia Gandhi's Sharp Response
Senior leader Digvijay Singh suggested that the opposition should not have let JDU chief Nitish Kumar switch sides to NDA, adding that the power equation could have been different now, reported NDTV, citing credible sources. However, in a sharp response, Sonia Gandhi reportedly asserted that Kumar did not wish to continue in the opposition alliance. The party veteran also alleged that the former Bihar chief minister was actively trying to leave the INDIA bloc.
"He did not wish to remain in the INDIA alliance. It was for the best that he left when he did. That was where he was headed; he had been actively seeking ways to exit the INDIA bloc," Sonia Gandhi said, reported NDTV. In her support, Kharge also stated that Kumar was trying to switch sides for a long time.
RaGa Slams Kanhaiya Kumar
On the same day, Rahul Gandhi slammed Kanhaiya Kumar, AICC in-charge of the party's student wing NSUI, for the massive setback in the recent DUSU polls, reported India Today. Gandhi asked how the NSUI could not win even a single seat when the party has got massive support from the youth, further raising questions on the ticket distribution strategy.
Kharge's Suggestion To Tharoor
Apart from this, Mallikarjun Kharge reportededly praised Tharoor for his articles in the newspapers; however, the president also suggested him to actively participate in the party meetings and demonstrations.
