Delhi Gangrape Case: The Delhi police on Tuesday informed that one of the accused in the alleged gang-rape near Kalkaji Temple was apprehended after an exchange of fire with the officials. In its statement, the authority stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the other accused. Earlier on Monday, a 17-year-old student had alleged that she was threatened and raped by three people posing as the officials of Delhi police inside Astha Kunj Park.
Accused Claimed To Be From Police
In its statement, the Delhi police stated that the victim, along with her friend, had visited the temple to offer prayers. The complainant stated that they later went inside Astha Kunj Park, located near the temple. She further stated that three persons threatened them by claiming that they were from the state police. One of them held her friend, and later all the accused committed rape on her, the complainant added.
"A PCR call vide DD No. 93 at 08:45 PM regarding an alleged rape near Kalkaji Mandir, ISKCON Temple, was received. The victim, aged 17 years, reported that she came along with her friend, aged 17 years, to Delhi at the Kalkaji Temple. At 7 PM, after darshan in the Kalkaji Mandir, both went inside Astha Kunj Park," Delhi police said in its statement.
"At about 7:30 PM, three persons aged about 25–30 years came, told them that they were from the police, and threatened them. She further stated that one of them held her friend, and thereafter all three had committed rape on her," it added.
'Search Underway For Other Accused'
While one of the accused has been apprehended by the Delhi Police following a brief exchange of fire, the authority has assured that the search for the remaining two accused is underway.
