To fulfil this promise, the Rekha Gupta-led government launched the "Delhi Lakshmi Yojana". While the scheme has faced criticism over some of its conditions, officials have reported that over 700,000 applications have been received so far.

What Is Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is a financial welfare initiative launched by the Delhi Government to empower women across the state. Under this scheme, eligible women receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 every month, directly transferred to their bank accounts.
Eligibility Criteria For Delhi Lakshmi Yojana
- To qualify for the scheme, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- The applicant must be a female and the eldest female member of her family.
- Between 21 and 60 years old on the date of submission of the application.
- The applicant, their spouse, or one of their parents must have been a resident of Delhi for at least the last 10 years.
- Must be a registered voter in Delhi.
- Total annual family income must not exceed Rs 2,50,000.
- Annual family electricity consumption over the past 12 months must not exceed 2,400 units.
- Neither the applicant nor any family member can own a four-wheeler motor vehicle.
- The applicant must not have more than three children.
- Neither the applicant nor any family member should be employed (regular or contractual) in the Central/State Government, local bodies, or public undertakings.
- The applicant must not be an income tax payer, GST filer, or recipient of any government pension/financial assistance (such as widow or disability pension).
- The applicant must have no prior criminal record.
How To Apply For Lakshmi Yojana Online
- Applicants can apply for the scheme by following these steps:
- Complete all eligibility questions on the official portal.
- Fill in personal details, Aadhaar number, and basic information carefully.
- Enter correct details of all required family members.
- Provide the applicant's bank account details to receive direct benefit transfers.
- Upload all required documents in the prescribed format.
- Upload a signed copy of the support letter from the local MP or MLA of the concerned constituency.
- Carefully verify all fields before final submission, then download and save the acknowledgement receipt for future tracking.
