NDMC New Rules: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a 50 per cent concession on parking fees for electric vehicles across the authorised parking spaces, including Connaught Place.

The concession aims to encourage EV usage to reduce air pollution. Speaking to the media, NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal said, "EVs will be provided a 50% concession in parking charges at NDMC parking facilities. The initiative aims to reduce air pollution, promote clean transportation and reduce dependence on petrol and diesel. It will encourage more people to buy EVs The concession will be applicable at all parking facilities operated by the NDMC’s Parking Management System Department."

In other steps towards cleanliness and pollution control, the NDMC has also approved new Solid Waste Management bye-Laws, mandating monthly user charges and penalties for waste generators across residential, commercial and industrial establishments in Lutyens' area, officials said on Tuesday.

The bye-laws were approved in the NDMC meeting on Monday and will be notified by the Union Home Ministry later.

As per the law, residential properties will be charged Rs 100 per month for plots up to 50 square metres. Over 50 but up to 200 square metre plots will be charged Rs 200 per month and Rs 300 for plots larger than 200 square metres.

Street Vendors will have to pay Rs 200 per month, while commercial establishments will be charged Rs 800.

Commercial offices, banks and educational institutions will be charged Rs 3,000 per month.

Unstarred hotels, small restaurants and clinics with up to 50 beds will also be charged 3,000 a month. While five-star hotels, shopping malls and party lawns will be charged Rs 7,400 on a monthly basis.

In case of late payment for 30 days, a 10 per cent surcharge will be applied.\

NDMC Fines

The NDMC has also approved a fine of Rs 500 for littering, dumping waste from vehicles and failing to segregate domestic waste.

Rs 7,500 for open waste burning, improper construction waste dumping and unsegregated commercial waste will also be charged.
