The Delhi Police on Friday made an emotional appeal to citizens on the occasion of World Post Day, urging them to look beyond uniforms and differences of opinion. The message highlighted the importance of mutual respect, understanding and compassion between police personnel and the public and comes ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned protest on Saturday.
What Did Delhi Police Say?
In a post on X, the Delhi Police shared an open letter to citizens, urging them to remember the human side of police personnel despite differences in opinions or disagreements. The post read, “An Open Letter to Every Citizen. Because beyond every uniform, every opinion and every disagreement, we’re all human first.”
The image shared by the police also carried a message in Hindi. It acknowledged citizens’ right to raise their voices while reminding them that police personnel are human beings too, with families and loved ones.
The message read: “Dear Citizen, Aapki awaaz aapka haq hai, aur aapki suraksha hamara farz. Uniform ke peeche bhi ek insaan hai, jiska apna parivar hai, apne log hai.Farq sirf uniform ka hai, insaaniyat ka nahi. (The message translates to: Dear Citizen, your voice is your right, and your safety is our duty. Behind the uniform is also a human being who has a family and loved ones. The only difference is the uniform, not our humanity.)
CJP Protest In Delhi
The message has gained significant attention as it comes ahead of the planned CJP protest in the national capital. The demonstration has been called, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Earlier, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner Madhur Verma asked police personnel to exercise restraint while managing crowds.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police on Friday held a press conference, stating that the pressure group has been denied permission to hold any demonstration in Delhi. Joint CP Nupur Prasad stated that the permission was denied as the application was submitted in a very short span of time. She asserted that the rule clearly mentions that permission for any such protest has to be taken at least 10 days prior, but the CJP gave an ultimatum this week.
