ECI-SIR Row: Amid the continuous heavy rainfall in Delhi, the INDIA Bloc on Friday postponed 'public impeachment' of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Earlier, the opposition parties had planned to hold a demonstration at Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge's residence. As per the schedule, the opposition leaders were scheduled to highlight the irregularities in the functioning of the Election Commission, further seeking the removal of Gyanesh Kumar.

Entire Opposition Is United: Rahul Gandhi

While addressing a press conference in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi confirmed that the program will be held tomorrow, adding that all the demonstrations against CEC Gyanesh Kumar are one. The Leader of Opposition stated that the program was postponed due to the continuous rain. Apart from this, Gandhi also confirmed that the Ramlila Maidan rally will be held on November 1 as per the schedule.

"As we said before, this is not multiple protests. This is one protest. The entire opposition is standing here. Anybody who wants to protest, any person, is welcome to come here. We are all standing together because we are defending the Constitution. We are defending the idea of India. We are defending the vote, which is the expression of all Indians," Gandhi told reporters.

He further alleged that while thousands of people are ready to participate in the mega rally, the authorities are taking cruel steps to stop them.
