Jagran State Bureau, Patna | The state government has been conducting relief and rescue operations amid floods in 14 districts of Bihar. Approximately 44 lakh people have been affected by the devastating floods. The authorities are ensuring two meals a day for 33.88 lakh flood victims in Bihar. 951 community kitchens are operational in the state.
Additionally, 6,692 quintals of cattle feed have been distributed in these areas for the animals.
NDRF And SDRF In Action
According to the Disaster Management Department, 27 teams of SDRF and 10 teams of NDRF were deployed in various districts of the state to deal with the disaster.

Which Districts Are Affected By The Floods
About 43.64 lakh population in 527 gram panchayats of 85 blocks of 14 districts of the state, Patna, Bhojpur, Saran, Vaishali, Bhagalpur, Begusarai, Buxar, Samastipur, Munger, Katihar, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Purnia and Arwal have been affected by the floods.
Major rivers like the Gandak, Kosi, Ganga, Punpun, Bagmati, and Ghaghra are flowing above the danger mark at many places. However, the flow of the Gandak and Kosi is currently stable.

According to the weather centre, light to moderate rainfall is expected at some places in the next two days and the situation is being continuously monitored.
Incessant rain in several parts of the state, coupled with heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Nepal, has caused rivers and streams to overflow, they said. The state has recorded 83.6 mm of rainfall in September so far, which is 24 per cent above normal, according to the weather office.
In its latest bulletin, the DMD said the Ganga at Sultanganj in Bhagalpur was flowing at 36.72 metres at 6 am on Thursday, 2.22 metres above the danger level. The flow, however, remained stable.
