How Will Jewar Airport Improve Connectivity?

Noida International Airport has been planned as a multimodal transport hub, with a ground transportation centre designed to integrate different modes of travel. Proposed facilities include metro and high-speed rail connections, alongside bus services, taxis and private vehicle parking.

Plans also include a link to the proposed Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor. The airport is expected to improve access for passengers travelling from Noida, Greater Noida and other parts of the National Capital Region.

A journey between the Jewar airport and Delhi’s IGI Airport has been described as taking around 21 minutes under a proposed connectivity plan. However, this should not be interpreted as the current road travel time.

Airport Capacity And Runway Details

The first phase of the airport was built at a cost of Rs 11,282 crore and has an initial annual passenger-handling capacity of 1.2 crore. This is expected to increase to 7 crore passengers as the airport expands.

Its 3,900-metre runway can accommodate wide-body aircraft. Instrument landing systems at both ends are designed to support approaches from either direction, depending on wind conditions.

Jewar Airport's Net-Zero Emissions Goal

The airport also aims to become India’s first airport with net-zero emissions, making sustainability a key part of its development plans.

Separately, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Friday that the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet had approved a proposal to name the airport Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
