Hyderabad Metro Update: To ensure smooth travel for thousands of devotees participating in Ganesh immersion processions across the city, the Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced extended services.
According to the announcement, extended metro services will operate from September 25, with the last metro trains departing from all terminal stations at 1:00 AM on September 26 and reaching their destinations around 2:00 AM. The extended timings will apply to the Red, Blue, and Green lines, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Ease Late-Night Commutes And Traffic Congestion
The extended services aim to ease commuting during the Ganesh immersion procession. This gives commuters an alternative, helping reduce traffic congestion and parking issues near major immersion routes.
Extra Staff Deployment And Digital Ticketing Options
To manage the expected high passenger footfall, HMR has deployed additional security personnel and ticket counters at key stations, including Khairatabad, Lakdikapul, Assembly, and MG Bus Station.
Authorities have advised commuters to purchase digital QR-code tickets in advance to avoid long queues at ticket counters during peak hours.
SCR's MMTS Special Services For Ganesh Immersion
South Central Railway (SCR) will run special MMTS services from 11:00 PM on September 25 to 5:00 AM on September 26 across the following routes:
- GSH-1: Secunderabad - Hyderabad (23:50 / 00:20)
- GHL-2: Hyderabad - Lingampalli (00:30 / 01:20)
- GHL-3: Lingampalli - Hyderabad (01:50 / 02:40)
- GHS-4: Hyderabad - Secunderabad (03:30 / 04:00)
- GHL-5: Hyderabad - Lingampalli (23:10 / 23:55)
- GLF-6: Lingampalli - Falaknuma (00:10 / 01:50)
- GFS-7: Falaknuma - Secunderabad (02:20 / 03:00)
- GSH-8: Secunderabad - Hyderabad (04:00 / 04:40)
These MMTS trains will stop at all MMTS stations en route, according to a report by The Hindu.
