Greater Noida Accident: A 40-year-old man died, and his wife got severely injured after their scooter collided with a speeding Thar near the Itaida roundabout in Greater Noida on Monday evening. While providing details, the officials stated that the deceased has been identified as Neeraj, a resident of Ghaziabad. The collision was so severe that the scooter got completely destroyed and caused panic among the locals.

Thar Driver Fled The Scene

The officials stated that both of them were rushed to a nearby hospital, but Neeraj, who was also driving the scooter, was declared dead. The Thar driver fled the scene soon after the accident, they added. As per the eyewitnesses, the accident occurred due to the overspeeding, adding that the driver of Thar could be under the influence of alcohol, reported News18.

Wife Being Treated: Police

The officials stated that the deceased's wife got severely injured and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The dead body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination. While the Thar driver fled the scene after the accident, the state police have taken the vehicle into custody.

'Teams Formed To Apprehend Accused'

The police further stated that a case is being registered after receiving a complaint from the victim, adding that the eyewitnesses have been questioned for more details. Apart from this, the nearby CCTV cameras are being examined to identify the accused.

Inspector-in-charge Ranjit Kumar Singh stated that the footage is being examined to determine the speed of the Thar and how the accident occurred. He further assured that teams have been formed to search for the driver.

Earlier on September 20, a three-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a car within the jurisdiction of the IS Sadan Police Station in Hyderabad. The accident occurred on Saturday night and was captured on CCTV. The child, identified as Izanuddin, was hit by the vehicle while crossing a road.
