In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend with a pistol and then shot himself dead at a school in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri. The viral CCTV footage showed the man dragging the woman upstairs at the Children’s Academy School. The incident took place on Monday at around 11.30 am.

What Happened In The School?

The man was identified as Mohammad Saud (27) and entered the school during the early hours of Monday. The 27-year-old man entered the school with a pistol hidden inside his bag. He called Nishat Fatima (26) and took her upstairs to the corridor on the upper floor. A staff member followed the duo. The conversation took an unexpected turn when the Saud pulled out the pistol and shot Fatima in the head. He then shot himself. Both died at the scene.

The footage showed Saud dragging Fatima by the arm toward the upper floor as young students watched. Fatima appeared to resist as he pulled her along. The eyewitnesses said that at least four rounds were fired. The incident sent shockwaves within the school premises.

School staff members alerted the police, who arrived at the school promptly. CCTV cameras are being examined, along with the school’s security and access procedures.“We will have more clarity on this matter after the post-mortem report,” the police official said.

The complainant, Shadab Akhtar, who is Nishat's brother said that Saud had been harassing Nishat and pressuring her for marriage. The family had repeatedly tried to stop him and had also complained to Saud’s parents, but the parents did not restrain him. The police allege that the parents instigated the act and were involved in a criminal conspiracy.

Following this, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Saud Ansari (deceased), his father Qayyum Ansari along with his mother.

Police officials and a forensic team examined the scene and collected evidence. Both bodies were sent for postmortem. The police say the situation at the spot is peaceful and further investigation is underway.

The official added that police would also examine the school’s security protocols and issue corrective directions if any lapses were found.
