DUSU Election Results 2026: The RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four central panel positions in the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections. Several BJP leaders used the outcome to target Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his youth outreach campaign, "Chhatron Ki Goonj".

BJP Targets Congress

Several BJP leaders congratulated the ABVP while taking a swipe at the Congress.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "This victory reflects the unwavering trust of the youth in the council's ideology of 'Nation First' and its commitment to student welfare. I am fully confident that the council’s workers, drawing new energy from this victory and following the ideals of Swami Vivekananda Ji, will continue to relentlessly advance the cause of student interests and nation-building."

Taking a direct jab at the Congress, BJP National Media Co-convener Sidharth Yadav said that students of Delhi University "handed a big fat zero to Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party, and their student organisation NSUI."

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also congratulated the winning candidates, stating, "Voice of the Youth is Loud & Clear!!! Hearty congratulations to all Winning Candidates of #ABVP in Delhi University Students' Union Election and its cadres as well as all the well-wishers!

"Congratulations to Yash Dabas on winning the President post, Riya Chhabra on the Secretary post, and Lakshya Raj Singh on the Joint Secretary post," he said in a separate post.

DUSU Election Results 2026

The election results gave the ABVP presidency, secretary and joint secretary posts, leaving the Congress-backed NSUI without any of the central panel positions.

  • President: ABVP's Yash Dabas secured the presidency seat with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI candidate Vijay Shankar Meena (22,523 votes) by a margin of 2,053 votes.
  • Secretary: ABVP's Riya Chhawdi won the post after polling 21,650 votes against the NSUI candidate's 14,869 votes.
  • Joint Secretary: ABVP's Lakshya Raj Singh won with 16,615 votes in a close contest against Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha candidate Vishesh Yadav (15,778 votes) and NSUI's Gopal Chaudhary (15,206 votes).
  • Vice President: Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, a former NSUI member who contested independently after being denied the organisation's ticket, won the vice presidency.
