INDIA Bloc Protest Live: Mamata To Join Oppn's March As Delhi Police Ramps Up Security; Another FIR Against Rahul, Priyanka

INDIA Bloc Protest Live Updates: Congress's protest demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar continues after two days of showdown on the Delhi streets. Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi will lead the protest while local Congress units will hold demonstrations across the districts. The protest started on Tuesday when INDIA bloc leaders held a march from Parliament's Makar Dwar to Nirvachan Sadan, the office of the Election Commission. However, heavy barricading and lack of permission triggered a huge confrontation near the NITI Aayog office. Rahul and Priyanka later entered Akashvani Bhawan to bypass the security perimeter and reach the EC office, leading to almost a 9-hour sit-in inside the premises. The next day, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge invited all the Opposition MPs for a lunch to devise a future course of action. Post-lunch, leaders, led by Rahul Gandhi, headed towards Jantar Mantar to continue the protest.
The unplanned agitation put the security apparatus on high alert. Rahul and Priyanka, along with other leaders, were detained for a couple of hours before being released. Visuals from the ground showed a confrontation between the police officials and the Congress leaders as they resisted detainment. Late at night, Congress announced that its protest would continue for the third day on Thursday.
