Jamia Slogan Row: Amid the ongoing protest in Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia demanding restoration of the elected students' body, a fresh row erupted after controversial texts like "Free Kashmir" and "Free Sharjeel Imam" were found written on the walls of the university. Apart from this, slogans opposing the RSS and ABVP, two organisations associated with the BJP, and the university's Vice Chancellor were also found written. The university administration has condemned the slogans and vowed a strict action against those found guilty.
Controversial Slogans Sparks Row
The row escalated after slogans seeking freedom of Kashmir, an integral part of India, were found written on the walls of the university. The action was heavily criticised by the ABVP, which sought strict action against those responsible. The administration also stated that the CCTV cameras were also tampered with in these areas, adding that the slogans were later removed using chemicals.
University Admin Vows Action
The university administration further assured that the responsible individuals will be identified soon. "It is highly condemnable. The university is trying to identify who wrote these slogans. Strict action will be taken against those involved," a university official stated. Apart from this, additional forces have been deployed inside the university to maintain law and order amid the ongoing demonstration.
VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal, while sharing the purported images, stated that the administration will not let Jamia become a hub of "anti-India" activities. Bansal also targeted the top brass of Congress and sought clarification of their stance over the issue. However, the images were not independently verified by The Daily Jagran.
