A shocking incident has come to light after a pregnant woman was burnt alive, thinking she was already dead in Maharashtra’s Dhule area. The police said that the burnt body of the pregnant woman was found near the Garatad Bari area on the Dhule-Solapur Highway.
How did the matter unfold?
Investigation revealed that a 31-year-old pregnant woman, identified as Pinky Hanumant Katka, was assaulted near Beed district after a dispute at the cultural centre. The accused believed she had died after she became unconscious during the assault and then conspired to dispose of the body.
The accused then transported the body by car and brought it 275 km away to Dhule. Following this, he poured petrol on the body and set it on fire in a deserted hilly area.
Police officials launched an investigation and scanned 11 hours of CCTV footage. Four accused have been arrested in the case, while two others are on the run. Police teams have been dispatched to trace and arrest them.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old doctor was burnt alive after the car he was driving caught fire after hitting a road divider in the Suryapet district of Telangana. The doctor was travelling from Khammam to Hyderabad to meet his family when the accident occurred. A video of the incident showing the car engulfed in flames has been circulating on the internet.
The deceased had been identified as K Jagadish, a neurosurgeon working at Mamata Hospital in Khammam. He was identified through the vehicle’s registration number. After completing his work on Sunday, he was reportedly returning to Hyderabad to meet his family.
The accident had taken place near the Pillalamarri flyover on the Hyderabad-Khammam highway at around 7:15 am. The car caught fire after hitting the road divider. On receiving information, a police team and fire personnel reached the spot and brought the blaze under control, but the vehicle was completely gutted.
