Days after a dead rat found in a dosa cost a Mumbai eatery its license, a new extortion twist has emerged as the hotel owner has been receiving calls threatening to release the videos with a demand of Rs 25 lakh, according to a report by NDTV.
On September 24, a woman named Mansi Acharya visited Radhakrishna Hotel in Borivali. She was accompanied by two men and a child. During their visit, Acharya alleged that she found a dead rat inside a Mysore Masala Dosa.
Before discovering the small rodent, her brother had already eaten a few bites, causing him to vomit. Acharya called the Borivali Police Station and reported the incident. The video of the incident later went viral on social media. Taking cognisance, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suspended the hotel's license on September 28.
After the incident, the hotel owner claimed that he began receiving calls demanding Rs 25 lakh compensation. The accused threatened him with releasing the video and even called his relatives to spread the news about the incident.
The hotel owner was mentally harassed through repeated phone calls and finally reached a settlement to pay Rs 6 lakh.
He paid Rs 1 lakh in cash to the accused before finally filing a complaint on September 29. Borivali Police laid a trap, and the woman was called to collect another Rs 6 lakh. The police caught the woman red-handed while accepting the extortion amount.

The police have found out that the prime accused in the case is the same woman who made the order in the hotel. The police have initiated legal proceedings in the case, and the Borivali police are also investigating the roles of other accused individuals.
