A fresh row has begun after the BJP launched a scathing attack over a video of AISA President Neha Bora stating that "Bangladesh showed us the way," saying it provides concrete proof that such statements are an open admission of a desire for regime change.

This comes after the 29-year-old student leader, who is pursuing her PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University's School of Arts and Aesthetics, said in an undated interview that the Gen Z movement witnessed in India first originated in Bangladesh.

"The Gen Z movement we are seeing everywhere in this country first started in Bangladesh and congratulations to you for showing us the way and extending solidarity to the young people of this country," she is heard saying in the clip.

Soon after the video went viral, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari shared the clip on his social media and wrote, "Neha Bora, Rahul Gandhi's poster girl says-‘Bangladesh showed us the way’ for Revolution!
This is Open Admission of Regime Change!
Rahul Gandhi& Co are a threat to Indian Democracy!"

The Gen Z movement she talks about dates back to August 5, 2024, when Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was dramatically ousted from power following weeks of student-led protests that spread nationwide and turned violent.

What Did Neha Bora Say in Video?

The student leader said that, much like Bangladesh, India is fighting for the restoration of "democratic and voter rights," noting that protests are being held against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.

"We know that the movement that began in Bangladesh was for democratic and voter rights. Today the movement that the young people are participating in and leading is also a movement for democratic and voting rights."

However, the BJP maintains that it is an "open admission for regime change."

Bhandari posted a video of his own with the caption, "Neha Bora who is poster girl of Rahul Gandhi proves Rahul's resistance is not political. Objective is regime change
Neha Bora says-" she is inspired by Regime change in Bangladesh and wants that to replicate in India"

In the video, he says, "Rahul Gandhi and his entire ecosystem do not wish to offer mere political resistance; they aim for regime change. In an interview, Neha Bora stated that she is inspired by the Gen Z-led movement in Bangladesh, and they intend to replicate in India what took place in Bangladesh."

"This proves that Rahul Gandhi's objective is not political resistance; rather, his goal is to destroy the Constitution and democracy within India. It demonstrates that the entire Congress ecosystem is solely focused on dismantling Indian democracy and orchestrating a regime change, similar to what happened in Bangladesh. Rahul Gandhi and the Congress ecosystem pose a danger to Indian democracy, and everyone who believes in Indian democracy should oppose him."
