An elderly man from Fatehgarh Gujran village in Punjab, who went missing during a pilgrimage to Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar, has been reunited with his family after a 19-year-old man from Bihar used Google and AI tools, including ChatGPT, to trace his village.

Chaman Lal had left for Amritsar on September 11 for the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme. But he lost his way and inadvertently boarded a train going towards Bihar. He finally reached Gaya district, where he was found wandering around. According to his family, he has been struggling with memory-related issues.

19-Year-Old Helps Missing Man

In Gaya, Chaman Lal came across Neeraj Kumar, a 19-year-old resident. Neeraj took him home, gave him food and water and allowed him to stay with his family while he tried to find out where he belonged.

Chaman Lal could only tell Neeraj that he belonged to Fatehgarh Gujran. With no other information available, Neeraj began searching for the village using Google and other AI-based tools.

After four days of searching, he traced Fatehgarh Gujran to the Machhiwara Sahib area of Ludhiana district in Punjab.

Neeraj Travels To Punjab With Chaman Lal

Determined to reunite the elderly man with his family, Neeraj travelled with Chaman Lal by train from Gaya to Ludhiana and then continued to Machhiwara Sahib. He showed Chaman Lal’s photograph to residents, asking if anyone could identify him.

His search finally paid off when Master Krishna Lal recognised the elderly man and identified him as Chaman Lal, who had gone missing during the pilgrimage.

The family was informed soon after, following which Chaman Lal’s grandson, Sukhchain Singh, rushed to Machhiwara Sahib to bring him home.

Sukhchain became emotional on seeing his grandfather safe and embraced him. He later touched Neeraj Kumar’s feet to thank him for helping reunite the family.

Sukhchain said Neeraj’s efforts and selfless help had made it possible for his grandfather to return home. The family also welcomed Neeraj into their home and thanked him for taking care of Chaman Lal and accompanying him all the way from Gaya to Punjab.
