State Bureau, Lucknow: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the state government has stepped up efforts to fast-track key infrastructure projects, including the metro networks in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra and the elevated road connecting Chilla Regulator with the Mahamaya Flyover in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The projects were reviewed at a meeting of the Project Monitoring Group on Thursday, where Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal directed officials to ensure their timely completion, with a focus on speed, quality and better coordination among departments.
During the meeting held at his office, Goyal stressed the need for regular monitoring of the projects and directed officials to complete all pending works at the earliest so that the public can benefit from improved infrastructure facilities without delay.
Officials informed the meeting that tenders for the Detailed Design Consultant, metro depot, elevated section and lifts under Corridor-1B of the Lucknow Metro have already been awarded. The technical evaluation of the underground section is currently underway.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of Corridor-1 and Corridor-2 of the Kanpur Metro, as well as the two corridors of the Agra Metro.
The proposed elevated road from Chilla Regulator to the Mahamaya Flyover in Gautam Buddh Nagar has achieved 65.50 per cent physical progress. The project will connect Chilla Road near Mayur Vihar in East Delhi with the Mahamaya Flyover near the Okhla Bird Sanctuary.
Goyal also reviewed the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat Employment Scheme. Officials informed the meeting that 76 per cent of establishments had been registered under the scheme.
The Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure the registration of the remaining establishments through greater coordination and regular meetings. He also instructed them to undertake extensive publicity of the scheme and provide establishments with the necessary assistance to complete the registration process.
