A high-voltage family drama unfolded in UP’s Maharajganj family court after an altercation occurred between a husband and wife shortly after a hearing of a property dispute. A video has surfaced online wherein the two parties are beating and punching each other, disrupting the court’s order. The police have registered a case against the two and arrested them.

The incident occurred on September 24, when the two parties arrived for the hearing of a maintenance case in Maharajganj district court. Priya Tripathi, a resident of Samardhira, had tied knots with Manish Kumar Mishra of Koiladad. The couple have reportedly been involved in a dispute since shortly after their marriage.

It is alleged that Priya, her sister Priyanka and their father left the courtroom and reached the ground-floor hall. Priya said that Manish, along with one of his acquaintances, approached them and assaulted them inside the court premises.

In the complaint, Priya alleged that Manish grabbed her by the hair and attacked her, while she was also knocked to the ground and allegedly subjected to an attempt to strangle her. When her father and sister intervened, they were reportedly assaulted.

The matter escalated further when a man accompanying Priya was captured slapping Manish across the face after the woman’s assault. The footage captures the parties trading blows and slaps inside the court complex, drawing attention from people present at the premises.

Seeing the assault, police personnel rushed to the spot and intervened, bringing the situation in control.

Wife Receiving Death Threats

Priya has also alleged that she received death threats after pursuing the case. She later approached the Kotwali police and submitted a complaint seeking action against those allegedly involved in the assault.

Dharmendra Singh, Station House Officer of Kotwali Maharajganj, stated that a case has been registered against two accused individuals in connection with the assault at the court complex, and both have been arrested. "The police are investigating the matter," he said.

The incident has brought renewed attention to the dispute between the couple, which is already pending before the Family Court.

With the arrests made, the police investigation is expected to establish the sequence of events, examine the allegations raised by the woman and determine the circumstances surrounding the clash inside the court premises.
