Heavy rainfall continued in several parts of Uttarakhand on Thursday, including the Kedarnath valley, while dense fog covered the hilly areas and reduced visibility. The Rudraprayag district administration has urged pilgrims to exercise caution while travelling in the prevailing weather conditions and remain alert in vulnerable areas.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh on September 17. A few places in the remaining districts are also likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers.

Heavy Rain Warning For Hilly Districts
The weather office has also issued a heavy rain warning along with the lightning and thunderstorms warning at isolated places in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand on September 17 and 18.
The weather department has also indicated the possibility of landslides, rockfalls, road blockades, flash floods, overflowing rivulets, streams and waterlogging in low-lying areas in the hill states on the said days.
Uttarakhand residents living near the landslide hotspots, streams and rivulets have been asked to be cautious, while commuters are advised to take care while travelling in the hill terrains.
Rain To Continue Over The Next Few Days
On September 18, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. Isolated rainfall is likely across the remaining districts.
On September 19, light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places across all districts.
The weather is expected to become comparatively drier from September 20, with very light to light rain likely at isolated places in the hilly districts. Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar are expected to experience dry weather on September 20 and 21.

On September 22 and 23, isolated light rain or thundershowers are likely in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh, while dry weather is expected elsewhere.
Lightning Advisory Issued
The weather department has also issued a warning regarding lightning in the hilly districts on September 17 and 18. According to the department, people should remain indoors, not go under trees and should keep doors and windows closed during the lightning activity.
It has also asked people to take care while going out during lightning and to keep animals indoors or in safe, sheltered areas.
