Naidunia Correspondent, Indore | A National Institute of Technology (NIT) student, Rajkumar Kushwaha, ended his life by hanging himself in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. He had only joined the NIT last year. His brother, Hardayal, accused senior students of harassment, demanding justice for his brother.

Hardayal filed a complaint with the Hiranagar police station. The police said they were investigating the matter. A post-mortem examination was conducted on Friday.

According to TI Sushil Patel, 20-year-old Rajkumar, son of Ramkishore Kushwaha, originally from Adapur, Champaran (Bihar), lived with his brother Hardayal. Hardayal worked in a readymade garment factory. Rajkumar hanged himself on Thursday night. Rajkumar broke down the door and took his brother to the hospital in Nandanagar, but a doctor declared him dead a short time later.

NIT Student Was Being Harassed: Brother

According to Hardayal, Rajkumar was pursuing a B.Tech degree at NIT, Warangal (Telangana). Last year, a loan of Rs 6 lakh was taken for his studies and he was sent to Hyderabad. Ten days ago, Rajkumar left his studies. He was mentally disturbed. He said he was being harassed by senior students.

"He was beaten and filed a complaint, but they threatened him and told him that no matter how much he studied, they wouldn't let him pass. After this, he fell ill. Hardayal also received treatment in Hyderabad. After returning to Indore, he started talking nonsense," Hardayal said.

According to Hardyal his brother told him that his career was going down the drain and there was no point in studying further.

He stopped leaving him alone. Hardayal also used to take him to work. On Thursday, they were going home together. Hardayal stopped for ten minutes, and Rajkumar hanged himself.

Law Student Ends His Life

In another similar incident, Adarsh Solanki killed himself by hanging himself in the Palasia police station area. Adarsh, who had completed his law studies, had begun practising in court.

Palasia police have registered a case and are investigating the reasons for the suicide. According to TI Surendra Singh Raghuvanshi, 27-year-old Adarsh, son of Harish Solanki, lived in Badi Gwaltoli. Friends said Adarsh had been suffering from depression for a long time. His parents were divorced.
