Noida Traffic: To relieve Noida residents from traffic congestion on Master Plan Road No 1, a 5.5-kilometre-long elevated road will be built from Sector 3 to the Sector 57 intersection. The construction is estimated to cost approximately Rs 700 crore, jagran.com reported.
To implement the project, the file has been sent to IIT Roorkee to prepare the route feasibility report and detailed project report (DPR), as Noida Authority has selected IIT Roorkee as the consultancy company to carry out all the work on the project.
What Was The Earlier Plan?
Earlier, the preliminary feasibility report of the proposed elevated road has been taken from Orion Company, in which it has been decided to build the elevated road not from DND to Sector-57, but from about 100 metres ahead of Rajnigandha underpass towards Sector-3.
The reason for this was that an elevated section of the Rajnigandha Underpass and the DSC Road Metro line cannot be passed over, as the structure could be compromised. This feasibility report has been sent to IIT Roorkee. This is the same project whose foundation stone was laid by SP National President Akhilesh Yadav. Now, 11 years later, a plan has been developed to complete this project.

Crawling Traffic During Peak Hours
At present, people travelling between Industrial Sector Phase One and Phase Three have to pass through five red lights at Rajnigandha, Sector-10, 21 Chowk, Chowda Mod, Sector-12, 12 Tiraha and Sector-57. This results in traffic jams at multiple locations. With the construction of the elevated road, people can easily travel in 10 minutes without stopping at five red lights. People from South Delhi can reach Sector 57 directly via DND via the red light.
Work Circle One has already received in-principle approval for the project from the then CEO, Dr Lokesh M. This is the first time an IIT has been selected as a consultant for a construction project.
Until now, IIT has only been reviewing budget files and drawing designs for the authority's projects, but it is now fully engaged in the work on its first project. It will prepare a DPR for the elevated road, including a feasibility report, budget, and drawing designs.
“The authority has given in-principle approval to a draft of a nearly five-kilometer-long elevated road. It has been sent to IIT Roorkee for testing. They will submit a report on its utility, possibilities, and design. The DPR will then be prepared based on that report,” said SP Singh, General Manager, Noida Authority.
