Assam Floods: The ravaging flood situation in Assam has further deteriorated with six fresh deaths reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 58. The devastating floods in several northeastern states have resulted in loss of life, extensive damage to infrastructure, road closures, crop destruction, and livestock loss. The deluge had also left many people homeless. In Assam, Dhubri district has been worst affected by the flood followed by Cachar and Darrang.

The floods in Assam have also claimed the lives of 114 animals in Kaziranga National Park, including six rhinos. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is constantly monitoring the situation in the northeastern state, visited the Jyotinagar area in Guwahati on Saturday and met the parents of Abinash Sarkar, who went missing after falling in a drain near a temple of the locality following devastating floods.

Assam Floods: Here Are The Top Updates

- The Assam CM directed the search teams and concerned departments to intensify their operation to locate the child, who went missing after falling into a drain. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Sarma wrote, “Rescue efforts for a child who has gone missing in Guwahati due to the floods is our topmost priority. I am constantly monitoring the situation. I have met the family and assured them our best support.”

- In the wake of devastating floods battering the northeastern state of Assam, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Assam CM Sarma and assured the people of the flood-hit state that the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force are working on a war footing, providing relief and rescuing victims.

- "On account of the heavy rains, a flood-like situation has occurred in Assam. Spoke with Assam CM Shri @himantabiswaJi about the ongoing situation. The NDRF and the SDRF are working on a war footing, providing relief and rescuing the victims. PM Shri @narendramodiJi stands firmly with the people of Assam and is committed to providing all possible assistance to the state in these challenging times," Shah said in a post on X.

- The flood-affected districts of Assam include Dhubri, Cachar, Hailakandi, Kamrup, Goalpara, Charaideo, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Biswanath, Barpeta, Nalbari, Golaghat, Hojai, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, South Salmara, Nagaon, Morigaon, Karimganj, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Darrang, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Karbi Anglong, Tinsukia, Majuli, and Kamrup (M).
