Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebrations: Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi, while addressing the media on the occasion of the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations at Kargil War Memorial in Drass on Saturday, warned enemies citing the success of the 'Operation Sindoor', saying the forces that are conspiring to harm India's sovereignty, integrity and people, will be given a befitting reply in the future too, this is the new normal of India.
"We are driven towards becoming a developed, modern and futuristic power. A new brigade is being established and I approved it yesterday. This will have fighting components like mechanised infantry, armoured units, artillery, special forces with logistic and combat support. Special forces have also been established that will always be ready to shock the enemy on the border. This will increase our force multifolds. We are completely prepared to fulfil the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The army is also contributing to development work in border areas, such as Ladakh," Gen Dwivedi asserted.
Government Gave Forces A Free Hand: Gen Dwivedi
He said the Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the Pahalgam terror attack after the government gave forces a free hand. Our forces eliminated 9 high-value targets in Pakistan without harming any innocent there, Gen Dwivedi said, adding India attained a decisive victory by effective targeting of terror infrastructure in Pakistan during the Operation Sindoor.
We are indebted to heroes who laid down their lives to ensure nation is safe, he added.

"Our Forces Fought Against Impossible Odds": CDS General Anil Chauhan
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan also paid heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 Kargil War. The CDS extended his greetings to the Indian Armed Forces, veterans, and their families, honouring the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of the nation's heroes.
In a post on X, Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) stated, "General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff CDS extends heartfelt greetings to All Ranks of the Indian Armed Forces, Veterans, Veer Naris & their families. Saluting our Bravehearts on Kargil Vijay Diwas! Their indomitable courage & supreme sacrifice will forever inspire us. Let's honour their legacy by serving our nation with dedication & national pride."
Despite the enemy's advantageous position, occupying higher mountain peaks with fortified positions, the Indian Armed Forces demonstrated extraordinary courage and tactical prowess. They fought against impossible odds, climbing near-vertical cliffs under heavy enemy fire in extreme weather conditions at dizzying altitudes, and yet emerged victorious.
In his message, CDS General Anil Chauhan said, "The enemy having occupied higher mountain peaks, entrenched with fortified positions clearly had the advantage along with the element of surprise. Our forces fought against impossible odds, climbed near vertical cliffs under heavy enemy fire in extreme weather conditions at dizzying attitudes and yet emerged victorious. The operation is a testimony to an exemplary leadership by young officers who courageously lead their troops to victory in face of unprecedented danger."
