Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebration: President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen heroes of the 1999 Kargil War on Saturday. The President said the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a symbol of the extraordinary valour, courage, and unwavering determination of our troops. Kargil Vijay Diwas marks the success of the Indian armed forces in ousting Pakistani intruders from the mountains in Kargil. It is observed on July 26 every year to mark India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war.

Kargil Vijay Diwas Reminder Of Unparalleled Courage Of Soldiers: PM Modi

PM Modi greeted people on the Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying this occasion reminds the country of unparalleled courage and valour of its soldiers who sacrificed their lives for defending the country's pride.

He further said soldiers' spirit to sacrifice themselves for the motherland will inspire every generation.

President Pays Tributes To Kargil Heroes

The President said, "On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for our motherland. This day stands as a symbol of the extraordinary valour, courage, and unwavering determination of our troops."

President Murmu wrote a note on X, emphasising that their dedication and supreme sacrifice for the nation will continue to inspire every citizen. "Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!" the President said in her X post.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tribute to the fallen heroes. "On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I pay heartfelt tributes to our bravehearts who displayed extraordinary courage, grit and determination in defending our nation's honour in the toughest of terrains," he wrote in his X post.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26, to observe India's victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War for ousting Pakistani terrorists from their occupied positions on the mountain tops of the Northern Kargil District in Ladakh in 1999. On July 26 every year we celebrate Kargil Vijay Diwas in honour of the soldiers who fought in the war against Pakistan.
