TMC leader Sagarika Ghose says after "bulldozer justice" in Uttar Pradesh, "bomb justice" is being witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir. Slamming the government over actions taken for "optics", the TMC leader calls for a "decisive fight against terror". "After bulldozer justice in UP is ruled illegal by the Supreme Court , now 'bomb justice' in Kashmir," she says.

"If security agencies knew where homes of terrorists are located, why did it require Pahalgam terrorist attack for this kind of action? Narendra Modi government: less optics please, a decisive fight against terror is needed. Punish the guilty. Don't use collateral damage in Kashmir for headline management," says Ghose.

Police have carried out searches at the residences of several terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and their associates in the Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said. The searches are part of ongoing investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the sources added.

Operations against terrorists and their support network have been intensified following the terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepalese citizen, and left several others injured, official sources said. They added that the police are carrying out the action in accordance with due legal procedures.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah says he will not use the Pahalgam terror attack as an opportunity to push for the restoration of the Union Territory's statehood. Reacting to the J-K statehood demand raised in the Assembly, the chief minister says, "The security in Jammu and Kashmir is not the responsibility of the UT's elected government. But I will not use this occasion to seek statehood. How can I push for statehood now? I do not believe in cheap politics. Should I have no value for the 26 lives lost and go to the Centre demanding statehood now?"

"We have talked about statehood (with the Central government) in the past and we will continue to talk about it in future, but not right now. This time there will be no politics on anything except condemnation of the terror act and expressing solidarity with the families who lost their kin," he says.

"Curse be on me if I go to the Centre and push for statehood at this moment," says Omar Abdullah.

On farmer leader Naresh Tikait's statement, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait says "A lot of people from the Press were questioning him about the issue (Indus Water Treaty)...There is no such intention. We are with the government and our armed forces on this issue. Strict decisions should be taken and we will stand with them..."

Jammu and Kashmir former CM Farooq Abdullah said that Pakistan does not understands that it murdered humanity. He said, "We regret that our neighbour today also does not understand that it has murdered humanity. If they think that by doing this, we will go with Pakistan, we should clear their misunderstanding. We did not go with them in 1947, so why will we go today? We threw the two-nation theory into the water at that time. Today, we are also not ready to accept the two-nation theory. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christians, we are all one...We will give a befitting reply to them..."

Meeting of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence begins at Parliament House Annexe. Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, Radha Mohan Singh and other leaders arrived for the meeting.

Indian Youth Congress held protest outside Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi against the Pahalgam terror attack.

"We are protesting against outside the embassy because the terrorists will keep engaging in such acts till some action is taken. We are time and again saying that we need to give out a strong message," a protester said. Congress workers were later detained by police officers.

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution condemning the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack during a special session. The resolution was moved to express strong disapproval of the attack and to extend solidarity to the victims and their families.

The resolution was moved by Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary, condemning the Pahalgam terror attack at the start of the session, following opening remarks from speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.

At least 22 people have been arrested in Assam so far for "defending Pakistan on Indian soil" following the Pahalgam terror attack, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday. Sharing the update on X, Sarma said, "22 traitors arrested till now."

Till Sunday night, the number of arrests stood at 19. Among those apprehended is opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, who was booked on sedition charges for allegedly defending Pakistan and its complicity in the Pahalgam attack.

J-K CM Omar Abdullah said that he won't be demanding statehood for Jammu and Kashmir in the name of the 26 people who have died in a terror attack, noting that his politics was not "so cheap."

Maharashtra Home Minister, Yogesh Ramdas Kadam said that they have served the notice to Pakistanis residing in Maharashtra on short-term visas, according to ANI.

No Pakistani is missing and we know each and everyone's location. We are still compiling the data but on an estimate, 250-300 Pakistanis are believed to be residing in Maharashtra. Those who came to India on medical grounds have been asked to leave India by 29th April..."

J&K CM Omar Abdullah, while speaking in the assembly, said, "This incident affected the entire country. We have seen many such attacks in the past... An attack of such a large scale has been carried out after 21 years in Baisaran... I did not know how to apologise to the families of the deceased... Being the host, it was my duty to send the tourists back safely. I couldn't do it. I do not have the words to seek an apology..." 

The government has written a formal letter to the BBC, conveying India's strong sentiments on its Pahalgam terror attack reportage and terming terrorists 'militants', officials said.

In a communication to Jackie Martin, BBC's India Head, the Ministry of External Affairs has conveyed the country's strong sentiments regarding their reporting on the terror attack at Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence will meet on Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM in the Parliament House Annexe. This development comes as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.

The meeting comes a day after Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan briefed the Defence Minister on the key decisions taken to counter Pakistan following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

A special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is underway. At the start of the proceedings, a 2-minute silence was observed to pay homage to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The Assembly also passed a resolution condemning the attack.

Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire across the LoC for the fourth time since the Pahalgam terror attack. On the intervening night of April 27 and 28, the  Pakistan Army opened fire in Poonch. The Indian troops retaliated strongly to the firing.
