Parliament Budget Session: The Lok Sabha was adjourned on Wednesday minutes before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address due to protests by the opposition MPs near the treasury benches. The BJP leaders stated the prime minister could not enter the parliament due to the ruckus by the opposition MPs. While providing details, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari stated that several of the opposition MPs entered the well of the House and surrounded the PM's chair. However, the Congress leaders alleged that PM Modi did not address the house to "escape the truth".

Why Did PM Modi Not Address The House?

The prime minister was reportedly ready to address the Lok Sabha at 5 PM; however, he could not enter the house due to the ruckus by the opposition leaders. The Congress leaders also confronted BJP MP Nishikant Dubey near the treasury benches for his remarks over the former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi during his budget speech.

Manoj Tiwari also alleged that the opposition leaders did not step back even after repeated requests from the senior BJP leaders. However, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi refuted such remarks by stating that the prime minister was too afraid to address the house.

Row Over Nishikant Dubey's Speech

Earlier in his address in the lower house, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey presented several books that were reportedly not allowed to be published during the emergency era. He accused the Congress stalwart Indira Gandhi of seizing the basic rights, leading to an outrage by the opposition MPs.

Rahul Gandhi-Ravneet Bittu Face-off

A fresh row erupted after senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called his former colleague and BJP MP Ravneet Bittu a "traitor". Bittu, in his response, refused to shake hands with the leader of the opposition and later alleged that Gandhi even tried to assault him. Several BJP leaders accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the entire Sikh community by calling the BJP MP a traitor.
