Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE Updates:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to move a resolution in the Rajya Sabha over the extension of President's rule in Manipur for another 6 months, effective August 13. The Upper House is also set to take up legislative and procedural business, like a statutory resolution seeking the extension of President’s Rule in Manipur and the consideration of the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025. The extension pertains to the proclamation issued by the President on February 13, 2025, under Article 356 of the Constitution.
On the other hand, opposition MPs have started their protest in front of Makkar Dawar in Parliament on Friday against the Bihar SIR, demanding the suspension of the house as multiple adjournment and Rule 267 notices have been submitted in both Houses over the issue.
On Thursday, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal presented the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2025, for consideration and passage. Already cleared by the Lok Sabha, the Bill outlines the legal framework governing the rights, responsibilities, and liabilities of carriers involved in maritime cargo transport.
