Parliament Monsoon Session Highlights: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha Proceedings Adjourned For The Day Amid Oppn Protest Over Bihar SIR

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned for the day on Thursday amid continuous sloganeering by the opposition members over Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and other issues, including Operation Sindoor and Pahalgam terror attack. This is the fourth consecutive day when Parliament proceedings were adjourned for the day without any discussions.

Lok Sabha proceedings has been adjourned till 2 pm over protests by opposition MPs in the House.

As the monsoon session of parliament enters day 4, MPs from the INDIA bloc stage a protest outside the parliament against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise being carried out by the Election Commission of India ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections.

The opposition parties are likely to continue their protest against the Bihar voter list revision, as Member of Parliament, representing Aam Aadmi Party, Sanjay Singh has given Suspension of Business Notice in Rajya Sabha under rule 267, demanding discussion in the Upper House on the constitutional and electoral implications of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar, News Agency ANI reported.

PM Modi is likely to address Operation Sindoor in Parliament next week, with a special discussion expected in both Houses during the ongoing Monsoon Session, according to multiple media reports cited on Wednesday.

BJP MP Arun Govil says, "This is a very bad attitude of the opposition...they don't care about how much it costs to run Parliament...the government has already said it is ready to discuss every issue, but the opposition doesn't want to discuss, they just want to make noise which is very shameful..."

Opposition MPs erupted in slogans in the Rajya Sabha as soon as proceedings began on the third day of the Monsoon Session at 11 am.

Opposition MPs, including Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, hold protest against ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, in Parliament.

On Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, Rajya Sabha LoP and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge says, "The government should answer why he resigned. I can see 'dal mein kuch kaala hai.' His health is fine. He used to defend RSS and BJP always. Who and what is behind his resignation should be known to the country..."

On SIR (Special Intensive Revision), Congress MP Imran Masood says, "What kind of formula or technique do they have due to which they were able to sort all these things within 1 month? All these things raise suspicion. They want to deprive the tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and Muslims of their voting rights by cutting their votes... They want to take the country in a direction where 10% of people should rule the country and 90% should be slaves. We will fight till the end to save democracy..."

With the aim of promoting sports and providing facilities and welfare measures for sports persons, the Centre is expected to introduce the much-awaited National Sports Governance Bill, 2025, and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the third day of the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

According to the list of business published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandviya is expected to move both the bills in the House today.

On the Parliament monsoon session, BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar says, "... All the MPs of the INDIA bloc are making an uproar, and hence all the expenses of the public are getting wasted. No discussion is taking place. They are responsible for all this..."

AAP MP Sanjay Singh has given a Suspension of Business Notice in the Rajya Sabha under Rule 267 and demanded a discussion on the severe humanitarian crisis arising from the forceful eviction in Delhi.

Rajya Sabha MPs Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Syed Naseer Hussain, Ranani Ashokrao Patil and Ranjeet Ranjan also have submitted an Adjournment Motion to discuss the urgent matter of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls in Bihar.

Both Houses are gearing up for a third day of debate at the Parliament Monsoon Session 2025, even as the past two days have been marked by repeated disruptions, with opposition parties demanding a discussion on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
