Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines: Passengers now can choose same sex drivers with an option to choose a female driver and voluntarily pay tips to drivers, as per the new amendments in the Motor Vehicles Aggregators Guidelines, 2025, notified on December 15, 2025.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified amendments in clauses 14 and 15 of the Motor Vehicles Aggregators Guidelines, 2025.

What Do The Amendments Say
The guideline, which was notified recently, makes the following changes for the Aggregator platform, like Ola, Uber-
-Major changes have been introduced for tipping drivers. Aggregator platforms like Ola, Uber may facilitate tip payment to drivers, but such a feature shall only be visible after the completion of the journey. The tip option should be available during the time of booking, before the beginning of the journey, or during the journey.
-The tip amount without any deduction should directly go to the driver's account
-Tipping feature or mechanism should not be misleading, manipulative, or otherwise in violation of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or any rule any regulation under the same act.
- Wherever possible, passengers should have the facility to choose a driver of the same gender, including an option for female passengers to choose female drivers.
What Is Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notified the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025 on July 1 to regulate the fare charged by aggregator platforms and make them comply with certain conditions pertaining to the safety and security of passengers.

The guidelines allowed the aggregator platforms to use dynamic pricing, but within a band, for example, they can reduce the pricing only up to 50 per cent against the base fare decided by the state and only double the price at max from the base fare during peak hours.
