PM Awas Yojana: Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in the state, beneficiaries (PMAY Urban 2.0) will now be given Rs 1 lakh as the first instalment for house construction. Following directives from the central government, the state government has revised the instalment payment structure. Previously, beneficiaries were provided Rs 63,000 as the first instalment.
The implementation of this new system (PM Awas Yojana) will help beneficiaries start their house construction work quickly and complete it within the stipulated timeframe. The Urban Administration and Development Department has issued the necessary instructions in this regard to all municipal corporation commissioners, as well as the chief municipal officers of municipalities and town panchayats.
Joint Assistance by Central and State Governments
For house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the Central Government provides 60 per cent of the total amount, while the State Government contributes the remaining 40 per cent. Under the scheme, beneficiaries are given a total of Rs 2,50,000 distributed across four instalments.
In addition, under the Mukhyamantri Griha Pravesh Samman Yojana, if beneficiaries complete the house construction within the set timeframe of 18 months, an additional incentive of Rs 32,850 is provided by the state government. Consequently, beneficiaries receive a total benefit of Rs 282,850.

The government believes that increasing the amount of the first instalment will accelerate construction work. Receiving a larger initial amount will provide financial relief to beneficiaries to kickstart preliminary construction activities, such as foundations and basic structural work. This is also expected to reduce the number of incomplete houses.
Over 37,000 Houses Built Under PM Awas Yojana
A total of 37,246 houses have been sanctioned under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 in the state. Out of these, the construction of 1,647 houses has been completed, while 20,459 houses are currently under construction. On the other hand, the construction of 15,140 sanctioned houses is yet to begin.
The state government has directed that the funds will be released only to those beneficiaries whose names have been approved by both the central and state governments. The funds cannot be adjusted or allocated to any other beneficiary.

Furthermore, for beneficiaries making rapid progress in construction, the amount will be transferred directly to their bank accounts as soon as the budget is received from the Center. The payment of installments will be made strictly in accordance with the guidelines set by the government.
