PM Awas Yojana: In a fresh push to allocate remaining affordable housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad (UPAVP) has called for applications from three priority categories in Lucknow's Avadh Vihar Yojana.

Who Can Apply

Eligible senior citizens (general category) can apply for 28 dedicated G+3 flats, while 11 units are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and one for Scheduled Tribes (ST). The application window is open until February 26, 2026, with an income certificate being mandatory to verify eligibility under the scheme's Economically Weaker Section (EWS) criteria.

What Are Conditions To Avails PMAY Home

Applicants must meet PMAY guidelines, including an annual income cap of Rs 3 lakh, no ownership of a pucca house, and not being a beneficiary of any other housing scheme. Interested individuals can register online via the UPAVP website (upavp.in), where detailed notices and forms are available. This targeted drive focuses on sectors 3, 7A, and 10B in Avadh Vihar, aiming to provide subsidised homes to vulnerable groups.

This latest notice comes amid significant delays in registering PMAY allotments for beneficiaries who applied back in 2024. Thousands of low-income families, who submitted applications between March 9 and April 23, 2024, are still awaiting completion of their home registries.

UPAVP had conducted a lottery in July 2025 at Avadh Shilpgram, selecting allottees in two phases, first for reserved categories and then for the general quota, determining house numbers for around 1,000 people. However, only about 50 per cent of these registries have been processed so far.

Why UPAVP Has Invited Fresh Applications

Under PMAY, the central government subsidises Rs 2.5 lakh per unit for families without a permanent home, requiring beneficiaries to pay Rs 3.5 lakh. UPAVP had initially prepared 4,750 units in Avadh Vihar, with bookings starting in 2022.

But, many allotments were cancelled due to incomplete documentation or inability to make lump-sum payments, leading to the 2024 re-registration drive that attracted over 7 thousand applications.
