Amid ongoing elections in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning visited the banks of the Hooghly River in Kolkata, spending time there and taking a boat ride.
Sharing visuals on the social media platform X, the PM expressed his reverence for the Ganga and captured beautiful scenes of nature and public life with a camera in his hand.

“The Ganga holds an extremely special place in the heart of every Bengali. It can be said that the Ganga flows right through the soul of Bengal. The sacred waters of the Ganga carry forward the eternal consciousness of the entire civilisation.” PM Modi said in a X post.

“This morning in Kolkata, I spent some time by the banks of the Hooghly River, as an opportunity to express my gratitude to Ma Ganga,” the PM added.
During his time on the banks of the Hooghly, Prime Minister Modi met with local boatmen and morning walkers. He lavishly praised the boatmen's hard work and called their industrious nature inspiring. This visit was not only spiritual but also reflected political and social commitment.
“I also met morning walkers and boatmen. The tireless hard work of the boatmen is truly commendable. Standing on the banks of the Hooghly, I reaffirmed our commitment to working toward the development of West Bengal and the prosperity of our great Bengali society,” the PM said.
PM Modi visited the state to address a rally in Krishnanagar on Thursday ahead of the Assembly Election. The PM also sought spiritual solace at Belur Math and held a roadshow from the Howrah Bridge.
The polling concluded at 6 am on Thursday, with voter turnout recorded at 91.91 per cent in Phase 1, according to the Election Commission.
