Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new office (PMO) near Raisina Hill is all set to welcome him. The new office has been built as part of the Central Vista project and officially renamed 'Seva Teerth'.

PM Modi's is expected to start managing his work from the new office by January end, according to an NDTV report.

Where Does The Name 'Seva Teerth' Come From?

The word 'Seva' means service, and the name of the PM’s office is rooted in the spirit of ‘service’. As per news agency PTI, the 'Seva Teerth' will be a workplace designed to reflect the spirit of service and where national priorities take shape.

The Seva Teerth Consists Of Three Buildings:

-Seva Teerth 1: The place where PMO will be located

-Seva Teerth 2: The place where Cabinet Secretariat will be located

-Seva Teerth 3: It has the National Security Council secretariat and the office of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

The new PMO was called Executive Enclave during the construction phase. The decision to change the name is reportedly a part of the central government’s ongoing push to shed colonial-era names and symbols. This comes weeks after several Raj Bhavans across states were renamed Lok Bhavan under the same drive to replace imperial-sounding titles with more people-centric ones.

Apart from this, PM Modi will move out of his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence after his new residence, being built near the new office is ready. Prime Minister’s official residence, once called Race Course Road, was renamed Lok Kalyan Marg in 2016, a name that speaks of public welfare instead of privilege.

Meanwhile, the Central Secretariat buildings have been renamed Kartavya Bhavan, symbolising that every desk inside exists not for power, but for duty and public service.

"These changes mark a deeper ideological transition. Indian democracy is choosing responsibility over power and service over status," the officials said, adding, "A shift in names is also a shift in mindset. Today, they speak the language of seva, kartavya and citizen-first governance," officials told PTI.
