After threats to blow up Sri Harmandir Sahib, state courts, district headquarters, and schools, a death threat was issued against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday. An email sent to ten schools in Gurdaspur and one school in Pathankot claimed that bomb blasts would occur across ten schools in the district as soon as it struck 1:00 pm.
The email further stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is also on their target list because he is killing their associates by labeling them as gangsters. Immediately after receiving the anonymous mail, the police were informed. Authorities began evacuating the concerned schools and launched an investigation. Dog squads were called to the scene, but after an intensive search, nothing suspicious was found.
Notably, this is the first time a threatening email has specifically included a threat against the Chief Minister. Despite multiple such threats in the past, the police have yet to determine who is sending these emails or from where they are originating. On Friday morning, student attendance was already low due to rain when the schools received the bomb threat via email.

Upon receiving the information, school management alerted the police and began messaging parents to pick up their children immediately. Despite the rain, parents rushed to the schools as soon as they received the alerts. Simultaneously, police teams arrived at the institutions to commence their search operations.

Bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed to the locations. Following a thorough inspection of the school premises, it was confirmed that no suspicious objects were present. Police claim that mischievous elements carried out the act solely to spread panic. The investigation is ongoing, and a specialised cybercrime team is working to track the IP address of the email. Meanwhile, a dozen schools in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and courts in Hamirpur and Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, also received bomb threats, but no suspicious items were found during those investigations either.
