Punjab Congress Crisis: Amid the ongoing conflict within Congress in Punjab, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and MP Sukhjinder Randhawa have reportedly agreed to a meet with state in-charge Bhupesh Baghel. However, Channi clarified that state president Amrinder Raja Warring should not be part of the meeting, reported Jagran, citing sources. He has also asked Baghel to not conduct the meeting at the Congress Bhawan, possibly to avoid lobbying.

High-Profile Meeting On Friday

Earlier on Thursday, the decision was taken in a meeting held at the residence of MLA Rana Gurjit Singh in Chandigarh. As per the reports, the meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA Pargat Singh, Barindermeet Singh Pahra, former MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, and Barinder Dhillon.

Randhawa, following the meeting, told the reporters that they have unanimously decided to hold a meeting with the state Congress in-charge, later confirmed by Baghel. In the high-profile meeting scheduled to be held on Friday, Channi and Randhawa are likely to raise objections to the election committee list with Baghel.

'We Will Contest Polls Together'

While providing details, MLA Pargat Singh stated that there are differences within the party on some issues, which will be raised with the in-charge. However, he assured that the party is united and will contest the coming 2027 assembly polls together. Raja Warring, while responding to the reports, stated that no one is above the high command, adding that everyone has the right to raise their objections.

Earlier on Thursday, Baghel held multiple meetings with the party leaders and took their inputs amid the ongoing internal crisis. After meeting MLA Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa at his residence, Baghel later held a meeting with the new Youth Congress president and other members at Punjab Bhawan.

Channi, along with several other senior leaders, has raised objections to the re-appointment of Raja Warring to the state chief post. However, the reports suggest that the high command is not likely to remove Warring from his post.
