In a strange incident, a family, after carrying out the cremation of their son, learnt he was alive and was incarcerated. The guy’s family residing in Punjab’s Kapurthala received a call from the jail that their son is alive 15 days after performing his last rites.
Family Wrongfully Identifies Body
The story dates back to August 5, when the man, identified as Ravi Kumar, left home and did not return. His family searched for him in the entire area but could not find Kumar. After failing to trace their son’s whereabouts, the Punjab family filed a missing person’s report on August 11 at the Kapurthala City Police Station.
Following this, the Kapurthala police informed the family that they have found an unidentified body. At the police station, they were shown a photograph of a decomposed body that had been found near Kanjli Road. Since the face was unrecognisable, the family identified the body as Ravi's based on the clothes he was believed to have been wearing.
On August 13, the family had performed his last rites. Two days later, the Kapurthala family observed the memorial ceremony, or Bhog, believing that Ravi had died.
Son Lodged In Jail
The story took an unexpected turn after they got a call from an employee of Central Jail in Kapurthala on September 2. The prison official said that a man named Ravi Kumar was lodged in the jail.
The Jalandhar police had arrested Kumar a month ago on charges of loitering and imprisoned him. The family was moved after receiving the information. Kumar’s family then travelled to the Jalandhar Central jail to meet their son and was overjoyed to see him alive.
