The process of vacating former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s official residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna has gained pace, with the government issuing a final ultimatum to vacate the bungalow by June 29. Preparations for the shift now appear to be in their final stages, with CCTV cameras being removed and packing of belongings already underway.
On Friday, CCTV cameras installed inside and outside the residence were switched off and removed as part of the shifting process. Cartons were also being arranged through auto-rickshaws for packing household items, indicating that the long-standing occupancy of the residence is nearing its end.

At the newly allotted government bungalow at 39 Harding Road, repair and painting work are progressing rapidly. However, no official date has been announced yet for when the Lalu-Prasad Yadav family will shift to the new residence.
Interestingly, the new bungalow has been completely repainted, with its earlier saffron colour replaced by green, which has drawn political attention due to its association with the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
Government Issues Final Notice
In its June 22 notice, the Building Construction Department directed that the bungalow must be vacated within seven days, setting June 29 as the deadline. The department stated that despite multiple earlier notices, the residence had not been vacated and warned that action may be taken under the Bihar Government Premises Act if the deadline is missed.
The bungalow has already been allotted to Nandkishore Ram, but possession has not yet been handed over due to the delay in vacating.
Health Concerns Cited
Rabri Devi had requested additional time, citing the health issues of Lalu Prasad Yadav. She stated that doctors have advised him to avoid infection, paint fumes, and chemical odours, and that he faces difficulty in climbing stairs.
Special Arrangements Underway
In view of these concerns, a ground-floor room is being prepared at the new residence for Lalu Prasad Yadav. Arrangements are also being made for isolation to reduce health risks, as advised by doctors.

The new government bungalow at 39 Harding Road reportedly has eight large rooms and three balconies, with both internal and external staircases connecting the floors. It is considered one of the larger official residences allotted in Bihar.
Rabri Devi was allotted the 10 Circular Road residence in 2005 after serving as Chief Minister. The Lalu Prasad Yadav family, including Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav, has lived there for nearly two decades. With the June 29 deadline approaching, the shift to the new residence now appears imminent.
