Jagran Correspondent, Jaipur: The internal conflict within Rajasthan Congress has intensified in the past few days as the party has reportedly gotten divided into four camps. As per the reports, one such faction is led by state Congress President Govind Singh Dotasara, the second by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Tikaram Julie, the third by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, and the fourth by Congress National General Secretary Sachin Pilot.
Gehlot Inducts BAP Workers Into Congress
Earlier on Thursday, the conflict between the senior leaders escalated after Gehlot inducted workers from the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) into Congress without consulting the other leaders. As per reports, around 300 BAP workers, led by former minister Mahendra Malviya, arrived at Gehlot's residence in Jaipur and took the membership of the grand old party.
While reacting to this political development, Govind Dotasara, without taking Gehlot's name, accused him of prioritizing his interest above the party. "He brands himself instead of the party. Congratulations to him for this branding, but I work within the party's boundaries. My goal is to brand the party," Dotasara told the reporters.
'Individualism Has Harmed'
The state Congress president further stated that individualism has harmed the party's growth, adding that the leaders must prioritize the party line. The reports suggest that Dotasara has also complained about Gehlot to National Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal and State In Charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.
However, while defending the actions of Gehlot, Congress leaders Dharmendra Rathod and Dinesh Khodaniya stated that the former chief minister has always worked to strengthen the party. Earlier, while talking to the reporters, Gehlot said that the Congress government will return in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan.
The grand old party's performance got affected in the last assembly election due to the internal conflict between Gehlot and Sachin Pilot. Amid the fresh escalation, the high command is likely to intervene and talk to the senior leaders regarding the political developments.
