The Election Commission on Thursday issued notices to two factions of Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee and Ritabrata Banerjee, as the dispute over control of the organisation has increased.
According to the communication released by the poll body, notices have been issued to both factions seeking their claims and counter-claims over authorised signatories of the party.
The Election Commission has asked both the factions to respond by 5:30 PM on July 6.
Trinamool Congress saw its worst phase after the West Bengal Assembly elections as the party split into three factions - a legislative party led by Ritabrata, a parliamentary party led by Kakoli Dastidar Ghosh and one led by former CM Mamata Banerjee.
While Kakoli's TMC faction merged with a registered and unrecognised party, the National Citizens Party of India (NPCI), the remaining two officially claimed control over TMC.

The matter officially reached the poll body after both groups submitted separate national working committee lists. The Ritabrata-led group on June 20 voted to replace Mamata with Arup Roy as party chairperson.
A letter for the same was written to the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), demanding recognition and a symbol.
However, the Mamata camp was quick to respond with a list of party representatives, retaining the top party for the former Bengal CM. Mamata's camp also submitted a letter supporting their party's claim.
The EC is to decide on the party and the signature "Jora Ghas Phool" (twin flowers on grass) symbol, using its power under Paragraph 15 of the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968.
The poll body is likely to hold a 'two-wings' test to analyse both factions' claim over the party and symbol on two aspects - control on the legislative wing and control on the organisational wing.
