Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party for rejecting the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that the party decided to ditch the ceremony due to appeasement politics. He sliced through the main opposition party for the rejection, saying that they had distanced themselves from the process of making India a developed country by not coming to the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. His remarks came during his address to the party cadre at the Bharatiya Janata Party national convention in New Delhi.
"Today, I want to warn the Congress from here that by rejecting the invitation for the consecration of Ram Lalla, you have not only shied away from being a part of this historic moment, but you have also distanced yourself from the process of making the country great. The people of the country are seeing this and also remembering it," he said.
Lambasting the opposition INDIA bloc, Amit Shah said that leaders of the INDIA bloc want their children to hold prominent positions in their parties.
“What is their (INDIA alliance) objective in politics? PM (Narendra Modi) Modi aims for a self-reliant India. Sonia Gandhi aims to make Rahul Gandhi the prime minister, Pawar Saheb aims to make his daughter the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee's aim is to make her nephew the chief minister, MK Stalin aims to make his son the chief minister, Lalu Yadav aims to make his son the chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray's aim is to make his son the chief minister and Mulayam Singh Yadav ensured that his son becomes the chief minister,” Amit Shah said.
"Those who aim to grab power for their family, will they ever think of the welfare of the poor?..." the home minister added.
Amit Shah levelled allegations against the INDIA bloc, specifically pointing fingers at the Congress, for undermining the essence of democracy in the nation.
"They coloured the democracy of the country with corruption, nepotism, appeasement and casteism. Such nepotistic parties were engaged in making a democratic arrangement to ensure that public opinion never emerged independently. PM Modi achieved development in 10 years by eliminating corruption, nepotism, appeasement and casteism…" Amit Shah said at the national convention.
Meanwhile, the BJP's national convention on Sunday passed a resolution on the Ram temple in Ayodhya, asserting that this heralds the establishment of "Ram Rajya" in India for the next 1,000 years.
"The construction of a grand and divine temple of Lord Shri Ram at his birthplace in the ancient holy city of Ayodhya is a historic and glorious achievement for the country," the resolution said.
This convention heartily congratulates the leadership of the prime minister, it said. It is noteworthy that Lord Shri Ram, Sita and Ramayana are present in every aspect of Indian civilization and culture, it said.
