To ensure that the upcoming Republic Day is celebrated peacefully and without any untoward incidents, an extraordinary security arrangements have been implemented across the entire Kashmir Valley. Meanwhile, the main venue for the celebrations in the city, Bakshi Stadium, has been placed under a three-tier security cordon.
Across the valley, security measures include increased patrolling, frisking at checkpoints, and strict surveillance of highways, link roads, railway tracks, and stations. These steps were taken following a high-level review by Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat, who directed strict monitoring of anti-national elements, social media surveillance to prevent misinformation, and coordinated efforts among all security agencies.
Three-Tier Security Detail
Providing further details, a senior police officer stated that Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar has been secured with a three-tier system:
Outer Layer: Involves checkpoints and monitoring of highways.

Middle Layer: Includes patrolling near the stadium and surveillance via drones and CCTVs.
Inner Layer: Features sharpshooters positioned on rooftops and strict access control for VIPs and authorised personnel.
These arrangements are coordinated by police and intelligence agencies for major events like Republic Day to ensure public safety. Threats are managed through searches, vehicle checks, and the readiness of Quick Response Teams (QRTs).
Vigilance And Public Appeal
Night patrols and surprise inspections are being conducted to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and foil any attempts to disrupt public order. Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive areas, with a special emphasis on monitoring suspicious activities.
Senior officials are personally monitoring the situation to ensure the smooth implementation of these measures. Authorities have appealed to the public for cooperation during the verification process and urged residents to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the Police Control Room.
